CDW + PAP | Better Better: CDW ($500 Deductible)CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is coverage for the rented vehicle in case of damage or theft. This saver is the lowest cost coverage available. Hassle-Free Walk-Away Hassle-Free Walk-AwayCDW (Collision Damage Waiver) provided by Globe is a hassle-free walk-away coverage. This is the best choice of coverage because it exonerates your responsibility in the event of a collision regardless of fault. Note: you will be subject to $500 deductible unless you choose PAP package which reduces your responsibility to $0. Credit Cards require lengthy claims form, about a dozen supporting documents and average 6 months to settle. Personal Car Insurance requires you to open a claim directly with your car rental insurance company; similar if you had the accident with your own car. You will be also liable for the deductible and risk insurance premium increase the following year (and every year after that). | |||||
Unlimited Rental Days Unlimited Rental DaysCDW & PAP have no rental duration limit. Credit Cards have time-frame limitations ranging from 28 to 48 days. This may result in a claim rejection from your credit card company should you not fall within their criteria. Personal Car Insurance varies from policy to policy, province to province. Unlimited MSRP Value Unlimited MSRP ValueCDW & PAP provided by Globe have no coverage ceiling for the value of the vehicle. Credit Cards have a limited ceiling car MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price). This means if your credit card covers you for maximum of $35,000 and actual value of rented vehicle is $42,000 then you will be required to pay the difference from your own pocket. Personal Car Insurance also has a limitation based on the value of your personal car. So, if the rented vehicle has a higher value (different class) than your own car, any difference in loss value may fall on the driver. | |||||

SUV Rental Coverage SUV Rental CoverageCDW & PAP provided by Globe covers all types of vehicles including all SUVs in its SUV rental fleet. Credit Cards may or may not cover rentals of SUV (4×4 vehicles). Please verify with your credit card company. Personal Car Insurance some may not cover rentals of SUV (4×4 vehicles) unless your own personal vehicle is an SUV of a similar class, size and value. Collision Coverage Collision CoverageCDW & PAP provided by Globe fully cover for various damage or theft to rental car. Credit Cards Coverage may vary – some have car rental collision coverage and some don’t. It is the responsibility of the card holder to ensure the benefit is valid. We assume no responsibility for the accuracy or the validity of credit card benefits. This coverage is between you and the credit card company. Certain credit cards which may only have coverage in your country of residence and may not cover you abroad. Also, some credit cards will not cover SUVs & 4X4. It is important for you to verify with your credit card before renting a car. Personal Car Insurance must have a car replacement (also known as FAQ 27, QEF27, FEQ, etc) on your personal car policy for it to be valid. Theft Protection Theft ProtectionCDW & PAP provided by Globe cover theft of all types of cars in its rental fleet. Credit Cards may or may not cover theft of car rentals. Zero Increase to Your Personal Car Premium Zero Increase to Your Personal Car PremiumCDW & PAP don’t affect your yearly personal car insurance premiums in case of a claim. Credit Cards claims also do not affect your annual personal car insurance premiums. Personal Car Insurance claim is affected directly. Claims on your own policy will reflect on your accident records and the number of claims on file. This may result in a probable increase in premiums the following year and each subsequent year. | |||||
Zero Deductible Zero DeductibleCDW & PAP combined together result in zero ($0) deductible on the rented vehicle in case of collision. PAP also includes trip interruption. CDW without PAP limits your responsibility to the first $500 per incident. Credit Cards may or may not have deductible. Please verify with your credit card company. Windshield Protection Windshield ProtectionPAP will pay or reimburse any cost resulting from a road hazard stone chip to the windshield or in case of a cracked windshield. Unfortunately due to our harsh Canadian winter, we must replace a chipped or cracked windshield as repairing it will result in a fissure. Credit Cards may or may not cover damage to windshield. Please verify with your credit card company. Personal Car Insurance may or may not cover damage to windshield. If they do, there is a deductible. Emergency Roadside Service Emergency Roadside ServicePAP includes emergency roadside service in case you lock in your car keys, run out of gas, forgot the lights on, stuck in snow or experience a mechanical failure. Simply call the number found in back of your car rental key tag. Credit Cards don’t offer emergency road side service to a rental car. Personal Car Insurance doesn’t offer emergency road side service to a car rental. | |||||
Towing in Case of Accident Towing in Case of AccidentPAP includes towing in case you are involved in an accident and the rented car is non-drivable. We will pay towing fees at no charge to you. Towing fees are exclusive on Canadian Roadways, meaning only the police can choose the towing company. Towing fees of $750 are not unheard of when you consider dolly fees, mileage towed, etc. Credit Cards may or may not pay for towing. Please verify with your credit card company. Personal Car Insurance may or may not pay for towing of rented car. If they do, there is a deductible on the overall claim. Please verify with your personal car insurance company. | |||||
Emergency Transportation (Taxi, Fares, etc…) Emergency TransportationPAP includes trip interruption benefit in case you are involved in an accident or experience a mechanical failure. Hotel Accommodation Hotel AccommodationPAP includes reimbursement of hotel accommodation in case you are involved in an accident or experience a mechanical failure, which cannot be attended to within the same day. Globe will reimburse you up to $125 for hotel expenses (inclusive of all fees and taxes). Credit Cards don’t offer hotel accommodation relating to car rental accident or delays. Personal Car Deductible Saver Personal Car Deductible More info SaverDeductible Saver option provided by Globe applies strictly to those clients that choose to use their personal car insurance policy to cover a rental car in Montreal. Interior Damage of Rental Vehicle Interior Damage of Rental VehiclePAP coverage exonerates the renter for unintentional damage caused to the interior of the rented vehicle and spillage of food or drink. This coverage is limited to $400 (inclusive of all fees and taxes) per rental contract. | |||||
