Are you crossing the border with your car rental?
Driving the car rental to the US is possible.
You must notify the car rental agency before driving to USA with your rented car. Before crossing the US border, make sure you have the registration, the insurance and copy of your rental contract (e-copies will be fine). Note: A charge of $5.95/day will apply for driving in the US. If you fail to add this option prior to crossing the border, you will be in violation of the rental agreement. All mileage accrued will be charged according to applicable km charge on your agreement.

Third Party liability insurance coverage in the U.S is required by law to be much higher than in Canada. Therefore, for our mutual protection, we increased your coverage from $1 million to $5 million.
Driving your rental to USA
- From Montreal, the permitted states are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut. If the state you intend to visit is not on this list, you are unable to drive there.
This means if the state you want to visit is not on the above list, you aren’t permitted to drive there.
