What type of car insurance is required in Quebec?
1 – Liability Coverage
The province of Quebec requires all cars to have liability insurance up to $1,000,000. However, Globe offers up to $5,000,000 – included on all vehicles, free of charge – this is 5x the amount covered by other rental services.
2- Collision Coverage
Coverage for the rental itself is not included. However, Globe offers Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) at very low cost.
Remember, Globe also offers a FREE GPS and FREE Roadside Assistance with all rentals to help our customers navigate Montreal’s city roads and highways safely.
Is Montreal the largest city in Quebec?
Yes! Montreal is Quebec’s largest city and ranks number two for all of Canada (Toronto is number one). Montreal will have the most diverse options for travel in and out of the city. This is why we’ve dedicated nine Globe Car rental locations to serve residents and visitors in Montreal.
Montreal has a lot to offer from professional sports teams (Go Canadiens!) to shopping and to the Notre Dame of Montreal.
What language is spoken in Quebec?
French is the official language in Quebec Province. However, there are still a number of English speakers in Montreal and the rest of the province. To best serve everyone, our Montreal car rental locations can provide service in both French and English.
What are the best cars for winters in Quebec?
The type of car rental is less important than the features. Some important features you’ll need in a winter car rental are:
Winter Tires
Windshield Washer Antifreeze
Snow Brush & Ice Scraper
Rubber Mats (Pant Saver)
All of the cars in Globe Car’s Quebec locations are equipped with all of the things you’ll need to battle those Quebec winters. And if you’re looking for some more helpful hints to navigate winter condition here are some tips:
Ensure the antifreeze washer fluid is topped up. If you run out, refill and never add water.
Clear the car of snow thoroughly to ensure proper visibility.
Windshield and rear windows should be completely defrosted.
Always have a phone with you.
Get familiar with your vehicle, they all have different characteristics and feel.
Go slow! A few seconds saved are not worth the risk.
What are the best things to do in Quebec?
Quebec Province has something to offer for every type of traveller and person. Montreal is a modern city with unique sights such as Saint-Catherine street, Mount Royal, and Notre Dame of Montreal. Another place to visit is Quebec City – especially the old cobblestone in Old Quebec and La Citadelle.
If you’re looking to get out of the city, Quebec has some extraordinary locations for natural beauty. It’s no Niagara, but Montmorency Falls are right near Quebec City. Additionally, Quebec has some of the best state and provincial parks such as Gatineau Park, Forillon National Park, Le Massif, and Mont Saint-Anne just to name a few!
What is the minimum driving age in Quebec?
Almost all companies do not rent a car to 18 to 20-year-olds due to high risk.
We are committed to celebrating our youth’s diverse interests and mobility needs. At Globe, we go against the grain. We believe young people are our next future generation and we want to grow with them. It is true, they lack the experience of driving for many years, but with risk comes high rewards.
We’re excited to offer our fleet of vehicles in Montreal to 18-year-olds and up, giving them a chance at exploring and enjoying their life and future.
How can I get the cheapest rental possible in Quebec?
Summer weekends are the tourism high season, but that also means more expensive rates. If you’re looking to save a buck, we highly recommend you book in advance to lock in the best rates during high season. But the way to save big money is to rent on weekdays and in winter and spring. Rental rates are at their lowest between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Also, the longer you rent the cheaper the daily rate will be. Example 1 day vs 3-days rental, the daily rate for the 3 day rental will be less than just renting for 1 day.
Can I get Roadside Assistance in Quebec?
Not only can you get Roadside Assistance in Quebec, but it’s included in all Globe Car rentals for no additional cost. In an unexpected emergency, we’ll bring you quick, reliable technicians which are especially helpful when you’re in an unfamiliar city. Whether you need a tow, jump-start, tire, fuel delivery, or you locked yourself out Globe Car rentals are covered at no additional cost!
Not only that, but stay safe on the road with a free GPS system. With turn-by-turn directions, you’ll coast your way through unfamiliar cities for a more stress-free driving experience. Don’t risk overage charges with your carrier for heavy data usage by using your phone as a GPS. You will also pay roaming charges when you drive into other provinces or cross the border.
Can I get truck rentals in Quebec?
Yes! Globe Car has a wide variety of trucks and cargo vans available for rent. All of our cargo rentals come with amenities like GPS, air conditioning, CD player and FM/AM radio, and dual-faced mirrors for better vision all free of charge. Whether you need to move across town or across the province you can count on Globe Car for the best, cheapest, and cleanest truck rentals in Quebec.
Are cars generally manual or automatic in Quebec?
Much like the US, the vast majority of cars in Canada are automatic transmission. The Globe Car fleet reflects this – all of our cars for rent are automatic transmission, including our fleet of vans and trucks.
How can I get to Globe Car’s Quebec car rental locations?
We understand our customers need an easy way to get access to our rental locations. In an effort to fulfill that need, we position our offices in a central location accessible by foot or via metro stations, transit stations, and various bus lines. Additionally, our car rental locations at Montreal Airport (YUL), Villeray, and Mont-Royal offer complimentary shuttle service. We want to make it as easy as possible to rent a car and start your adventures.
